Joseph Adamson a.k.a JJ

Joseph Adamson a.k.a JJ is an all rounder in audio and visual entertainment. Now he is also trying to venture into fashion with his eyes set on East African fashion. He is always filming for his AIL TV and has shot a few music videos for Ugandan artists in UK. One of his biggest projects yet is Rachael Magoola and Afrigo Band classic Obangaina that he produced over a decade ago, but still sounds fresh. He speaks to ECO Media News' Enock K. Kimbowa.

ECO Media News: Most people will understand who am talking about if I say that you’re the man behind one of the modern Ugandan music classics, Obangaina. How did that come about?
JJ: Obangiana  was recorded way  back 1997 and still sounds good because it was played in real time played on real instruments. The only thing which is not real is drums but I programmed and chose the sounds carefully and of course the musicians are brilliant. Moses Matovu and his band [Afrigo Band] rehearsed the song before recording it, and mind you I recorded and mixed Obangaina in my front room and mastered at SRT in St Ives.

ECO Media News: What do you think makes Obangaina still a hit after all these years?
JJ:What I can say is that when you listen to Rachael [Magoola] sing Obangaina you feel that she is saying something and I believe she connects with the women and probably with men too. And she is very real she does not pretend to be something else.
